What is a Sculpt Pilates class?

A Sculpt class is mat Pilates with the focus on strength. You work the legs, glutes, core and arms with slow, controlled moves, often with more repetitions, so the muscles work harder. It is still low impact and done on the mat.

Sculpt & Tone on Monday morning is 45 minutes. It gets the week off to a strong start, and it is short enough to fit around work or the school run.

Full Body Sculpt on Wednesday evening is for improvers and intermediates. It works every part of the body and moves on from the basics.

Looking for Pilates classes for beginners? Start with one of our beginners and improvers mat Pilates classes on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Learn the basics there for a few weeks, then add a Sculpt class.

Trim is about 15 minutes away and Navan about 20, so a Monday morning class is easy to fit in. See all our classes for the full week.

What you get from Sculpt & Tone

  • Stronger legs, glutes, core and arms.
  • Firmer muscles from slow, controlled work.
  • Better posture and a steadier back.
  • A harder workout that is still low impact.
  • A short, strong session: Monday's class is 45 minutes.

Can a beginner do a Sculpt Pilates class?

Monday's Sculpt & Tone has no set level, so message Fiona and she will tell you if it suits you. Wednesday's Full Body Sculpt is for improvers and intermediates, so build up in a beginners class first. Either way, every move has an easier option.

We recently attended a free yoga event on the Fair Green in Athboy on a beautiful summer evening. Everyone was made so welcome; people of different age, mobility and experience were all genuinely accommodated. Fiona is the warmest teacher and now I have signed up for one of her classes to get back into yoga on a regular basis.

Questions about Sculpt & Tone

What does tone mean in Sculpt & Tone?

It means firmer, stronger muscles. You get there with slow, controlled moves and repetition, done week after week.

How is Sculpt different from a regular Pilates class?

It is the same method with more focus on strength, so the muscles work harder. A beginners class spends more time on the basics: breathing, finding your core and moving with control.

Is 45 minutes enough?

Yes. A focused 45 minutes, done every week, builds real strength. It also fits a busy morning.

I'm new to Pilates. Where should I start?

In a beginners and improvers mat Pilates class: Monday at 8.15pm, Tuesday at 9am or Wednesday at 6.15pm. Wednesday times are changing this term. When the basics feel easy, add a Sculpt class.

Is it just for women?

No. Everyone is welcome, though most people in our classes are women. If you want a strength class without a gym, this is a good one.

Is there a Sculpt class at the weekend?

Mya's Pilates Body Burn runs on Saturday at 9am for 45 minutes. As the name suggests, it is a harder-working mat class, and it sits with our other mat Pilates classes.
