Yoga and Pilates for Trim, fifteen minutes up the R154
Trim has its own studio, reformer classes and a leisure centre. So why drive? For a countryside room of nine, classes booked by the term with no contract, and a cup of tea when the class is done.
Why would someone from Trim drive to Athboy for yoga?
For a different kind of class. Trim has a dedicated studio, reformer Pilates and a leisure centre. Fifteen minutes up the R154, Grá Wellness offers a countryside room of nine, mat Pilates and yoga by the term, no contract, and tea after.
Plenty of our students already have a class they like. They add one evening a week that feels different: a small group, music, a little poetry and a few minutes of stillness at the end. You do not have to choose one or the other.
The studio address is private, so Fiona sends the directions by message when you book.
The desk town
Trim works sitting down. The Office of Public Works has its headquarters on Jonathan Swift Street, the council has its civic offices, and the courthouse sits on Market Street. The schools and hotels fill in the rest, and then there is the drive to Dublin.
A body that sits all day wants two things: to move, and to rest properly. Healthy Back and mat Pilates look after the first. Yin and Restorative look after the second.

No train since 1947, and the Porchfields in between
Trim's railway station closed to passengers in 1947, and no new line is planned. Navan will get its train back. Trim will keep driving.
The Porchfields are the town's great open space. The Haymaking Festival fills them every June, the Royal Meath Show comes each September, and at Halloween the Púca Festival lights up the castle. Púca is shared with Athboy, so Halloween already links the two towns.
New homes are going up at Manorlands, on the old mart site. If you have just moved in and do not know many people yet, a small class with tea after is a gentle way to meet some.

What students say about the teaching

Fiona's Restorative Yoga classes are a special experience. She holds a beautiful, safe space with her calming presence, clear guidance, carefully chosen music and spoken word which allows the body to completely relax and the nervous system to settle leaving me feeling totally chill. Love them!
We recently attended a free yoga event on the Fair Green in Athboy on a beautiful summer evening. Everyone was made so welcome; people of different age, mobility and experience were all genuinely accommodated. Fiona is the warmest teacher and now I have signed up for one of her classes to get back into yoga on a regular basis.
I would highly recommend Grá Wellness run by Fiona, an excellent professional yoga teacher, the best in Co Meath. Fiona creates warm, cozy, welcoming, and serene atmosphere. and is full of positive energy. I have only recently started Yoga, and I am delighted to have found Gra Wellness studio and Fiona.
Grá Wellness is an idyllic retreat ideal for both indoor and outdoor yoga classes. The studio is a sanctuary that offers relaxation as soon as you walk through the door and Fiona's friendly greeting makes everyone, male and female, welcome. Fiona is amazing. The best yoga instructor I have ever had - her personality makes the classes. She is attentive, reassuring and her positive energy is contagious.
Trim questions, answered
Do you run any classes in Trim?
Not in the town. Our classes are just outside Athboy and at Athboy Community Centre, 15 to 20 minutes up the R154. Workplace and school sessions can come to Trim.
I already go to a studio in Trim. Can I add one of yours?
Of course. Plenty of people keep their usual class and add one evening with us. Mat Pilates, Yin or the monthly restorative evening sit well beside a gym or studio routine.
Do you have Pilates for beginners?
Yes. Pilates for beginners and improvers runs on Monday night and Tuesday morning, and Saturday's mixed-levels class welcomes everyone.
What is Healthy Back?
A men-only class on Tuesdays at 8.15pm with Emily. It mixes yoga, Pilates and light weights for a stronger, looser back. Hurlers, golfers, runners and desk workers all fit in.
Is there really tea after class?
At the studio, yes. The kettle goes on and most people stay for a cup and a chat. Nobody minds if you have to rush off.
Will I be the only new person?
Probably not, and it would not matter. Fiona has a quick chat with anyone new before class and shows you where everything goes. There is no expectation that you know the moves.
