Yoga and Pilates for Ballivor, twelve minutes up the road
Ballivor has no yoga studio of its own. About 12 minutes north, just outside Athboy, Grá Wellness runs small yoga and mat Pilates classes every day of the week, mornings and evenings.
How far is the nearest yoga class from Ballivor?
About 12 minutes. Grá Wellness is just outside Athboy, roughly 10 km north of Ballivor. Small yoga and mat Pilates classes run there every day of the week, at the studio and at Athboy Community Centre, and beginners are welcome.
Fiona sends directions to the studio when you book. If you are coming straight from the M4 or from work, tell her which evening suits and she will find a class that fits the drive.
The village that drives both ways
Ballivor sits on the R156 between Trim and Mullingar. Some mornings start on the M4 at Enfield or Kinnegad; others head north through Athboy for the M3. The only bus runs to Kilcock and Mullingar, so nearly everyone drives.
That is a lot of hours with your hips bent and your shoulders up. An evening class 12 minutes away might be the one thing in your week that is actually near.

A bog, a new library and a lot of young families
Ballivor's story is tied to the bog. Bord na Móna worked it from 1946 and built homes for its workers in 1956. Peat cutters found Clonycavan Man, the Iron Age bog body now in the National Museum, there in 2003.
Today the old St Kinneth's church is the village library, opened in July 2024. The estates built in the 2000s are full of families, and the people who bought those houses are now at the age where strength and mobility start to matter.
For a parent with a teenager at training in St Columban's Park, a class 12 minutes away is time that is finally your own.

We recently attended a free yoga event on the Fair Green in Athboy on a beautiful summer evening. Everyone was made so welcome; people of different age, mobility and experience were all genuinely accommodated. Fiona is the warmest teacher and now I have signed up for one of her classes to get back into yoga on a regular basis.
I would highly recommend Grá Wellness run by Fiona, an excellent professional yoga teacher, the best in Co Meath. Fiona creates warm, cozy, welcoming, and serene atmosphere. and is full of positive energy. I have only recently started Yoga, and I am delighted to have found Gra Wellness studio and Fiona.
Grá Wellness is an idyllic retreat ideal for both indoor and outdoor yoga classes. The studio is a sanctuary that offers relaxation as soon as you walk through the door and Fiona's friendly greeting makes everyone, male and female, welcome. Fiona is amazing. The best yoga instructor I have ever had - her personality makes the classes. She is attentive, reassuring and her positive energy is contagious.
I love my weekly yoga with Fiona. She guides us brilliantly and it is the hour of the week where you can lose yourself in calm and peace. )

Is there a yoga class in Ballivor?
Not from us. We have no Ballivor venue. Our classes run just outside Athboy, about 12 minutes north, and at Athboy Community Centre.
Is Athboy nearer than Trim?
It is about the same. Athboy is roughly 10 km from Ballivor and Trim about 12 km. The difference is the class: a small countryside room, booked by the term, with tea after.
What is Somatic yoga?
Slow, mindful movement where you notice how each move feels from the inside. It is gentle and suits beginners. Ours runs as Hatha and Somatic Yoga on Thursday mornings at 10am.
