What is menopause yoga?

Menopause yoga is yoga and movement planned around the changes of midlife. Classes usually mix strength, mobility, balance and breathing, with time to rest. Emily's programme at Grá Wellness takes that approach: strength, mobility and calm, taught plainly.

Menopause is a normal stage of life, and it is different for every woman. For many, the wish is simple: to feel strong, to keep moving well and to have some time in the week for themselves.

Emily's programme is being built around three things. Strength, because staying strong matters more with every year. Mobility, to keep the hips, back and shoulders moving. And calm, with breathing and rest.

We keep the wording plain on purpose. The programme is about movement and feeling good in your body. It is not a medical programme, it does not treat symptoms, and it is no replacement for advice from your GP or an appropriate healthcare professional.

While the details are finalised, Emily teaches Functional Flow for over 40s on Tuesday evenings at 7pm. It is a separate class, running now, and open to anyone over 40. Straight after it she teaches Healthy Back, a men-only class, if there is someone at home who could do with it too.

Women come to our classes from Navan, Kells and the villages in between. See all our classes for what runs now.

What the programme is built around

  • Strength work, to help you stay strong through midlife.
  • Mobility for the hips, back and shoulders.
  • Breathing and rest, for calm.
  • A small group of women at the same stage of life.
  • Plain talk: no promises and no jargon.

Do I need to have done yoga before?

No. You do not need to be flexible, fit or experienced to start at Grá Wellness. Emily explains each move and shows an easier option, and you work at a level that feels right for you.
