What is Yogalates?

Yogalates is a fusion of yoga and Pilates. It combines the flexibility and calm of yoga with the core strength and alignment work of Pilates. You get a stretch and a workout in the same class, at a steady pace.

A class might open with breathing and a few yoga stretches, move into Pilates work for the core, legs and back, and finish with a longer stretch and a short rest. The mix changes from week to week.

If you already know you love Pilates on its own, try mat Pilates. If you want both in one go, this is your class.

Both classes are short enough to fit around work. Thursday's is over before 10am, and Wednesday's fits a lunch break. People drive out from Navan and Trim, both within about 20 minutes. See all our classes for more.

What you get from Yogalates

  • Core strength from Pilates, done slowly and with control.
  • Stretch and mobility from yoga.
  • Steadier balance and better posture.
  • Two styles in one class, so you can find out what you like.
  • A full session in 45 minutes.

Is Yogalates good for beginners?

Yes. The Thursday 9am class is called Yogalates for Beginners for a reason. You learn the basics of both styles slowly, with an easier option for every move. It is a gentle way to find out whether yoga, Pilates or both suit you.

We recently attended a free yoga event on the Fair Green in Athboy on a beautiful summer evening. Everyone was made so welcome; people of different age, mobility and experience were all genuinely accommodated. Fiona is the warmest teacher and now I have signed up for one of her classes to get back into yoga on a regular basis.
